Biographie

Karolina Kremens, LL.M., Ph.D. works as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Criminal Procedure at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics (University of Wrocław, Poland). She received her Magister in Law degree from the University of Wrocław in 2004, Master in Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Ottawa (Canada) in 2007 and Ph.D. in Law from the University of Wrocław in 2008. She served as an Assistant Prosecutor at the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław (2009-2012).

Dr Kremens is the recipient of the 2016-2017 Fulbright Scholarship (University of Connecticut Law School, USA), 2006-2007 Edward Barry McDougall Scholarship (Canada) and 2013 and 2014 Vlamssee Government Scholarship (Belgium). She lectured at the Aberystwyth University, UK (2013), University of Exeter, UK (2014), University of Toledo, Spain (2016) and University of Bologna, Italy (2017, 2018). She also teaches regularly Comparative Criminal Procedure at the University of Ottawa (2014, 2016 and 2018).

She led and participated in many national and international research projects. Currently she finishes the project on the Role of the Prosecutor in Criminal Investigation and leads a project entitled “Reasonable Search - Between Effective Investigation and Rights of Individual” both funded by the Polish National Science Center. She also leads the Polish team in a grant project “Knowledge, Advisory and Capacity Building Information Tool for Criminal Procedural Rights in Judicial Cooperation” (CROSSJUSTICE) funded by the European Commission (Justice Programme 2018).

Her research focuses mainly on comparative and international criminal procedure as well as the role of the prosecutor in criminal proceedings.
