Through her scholarly interest is in the intersection of religious freedom and women’s equality, Professor Natasha Bakht has distinguished herself across a range of important legal areas that affect religious minorities and racialized people. In recognition of the impact of her work on South Asian communities, the South Asian Bar Association (SABA) has awarded Professor Bakht its 2019 Legal Excellence Award.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to significantly transform the practice of medicine, assisting and in some circumstance substituting for humans as medical service providers and expert decision-makers. Dr. Colleen Flood has plans to explore how AI can equitably and efficiently be adopted into the Canadian health care system. This research will form the basis of the second term of her University Research Chair (URC) in Health Law and Policy, which, as announced by the University of Ottawa, has been renewed for a period of 5 years.
