Juliet Knapton

Biography

Juliet Knapton is an associate at Connolly Obagi LLP, a personal injury and medical malpractice boutique firm.  She acts on behalf of plaintiffs in civil litigation matters and has a particular interest in equality, human rights and privacy law.  She has acted for clients at various levels of trial and appellate courts and tribunals.

Ms. Knapton was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2005.  She graduated from the University of Ottawa law school after completing her BA(H) at Queens University and her teaching certification at Michigan State University.  She spent several years working overseas in Colombia and Pakistan. She has chaired and been actively involved in a variety of community and advocacy groups (including LEAF, CLAIHR and Timeraiser) and is the Chair of the Ontario Bar Association’s Equality Committee and the Past Chair of the Young Lawyers’ Division.  Ms. Knapton’s legal training has been complemented by a term at the Centre for National Security Studies in Washington, D.C., the legal clinic at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, and a clerkship at the Federal Court of Canada.

Ms. Knapton also coaches the University of Ottawa Wilson Charter Equality Moot Team and serves on the board of the Emily Murphy House in Ottawa.  She was a recipient of the Forty Under 40 Award 2011 of the Ottawa Business Journal.

Ms. Knapton has written articles and given presentations on a wide range of equality and advocacy issues.
