Faculty of Law, Common Law students Sean Grassie and Daniel Chomski took home top honours at the 2018 Hicks Morley Moot Competition. The finals were held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the Hicks Morley offices in Toronto.
Our Common Law team competed against students from law schools across Ontario, including teams from the University of Windsor, Queen’s University, Western University and York University. The competition allows students to litigate legal issues in the areas of labour and employment law before panels of judges drawn from the Hicks Morley firm.
The judges were extremely impressed with the team’s preparation and arguments, and called their performance “excellent” and “truly superb”. Sean and Daniel were deeply humbled by the support and encouragement they received at the award ceremony and reception, as both are keen on pursuing a career in litigation.
Sean and Daniel also extremely thankful of the support they received from 3L student Chloe Waind, who spent many hours working with the team as an advisor.
This is the University of Ottawa’s fifth victory at the Hicks Morley Moot since 2006, a record at the competition.
Congratulations to Sean and Daniel on their performance!
