The University of Ottawa Common Law team of Marta Porodko (3L), Yvonna Belkina (2L), Gavin Inkster (2L) and Andrew Newman (2L) competed at the 2019 Davies’ Corporate/Securities Law Moot on March 8th and 9th. The uOttawa team beat out thirteen schools from across the country to win the prize for best factums.

The moot problem this year dealt with complex issues related to whether a publicly traded cannabis company had met its disclosure obligations under the Securities Act.  The moot took place in Toronto in the Federal Court Building.

The team is extremely thankful to its coaches, Professors P.M. Vasudev and Tony VanDuzer, whose direction, training, and constant support made the team’s success possible. The team also gratefully acknowledges the support of the private practitioners and professors who generously volunteered their time to act as judges during the team’s training sessions.

Congratulations to everyone on their performances!
