Hugh Verrier, LLB 1981, has been re-elected for a fourth term as White & Case chair.
White & Case LLP's practice, which focuses on transactional commercial, technology and intellectual property matters. The team acts for clients on a standalone basis, and provides support on corporate transactions, such as joint ventures, M&A, and restructurings.
As Chairman of White & Case LLP, Mr. Verrier directs the Firm's strategy and operations worldwide. After being with the firm for 35 years, he became a partner in 1994 and was elected to the Firm's global management in 2004. He has been Chairman of the Firm since 2007.
A New York-qualified lawyer, Hugh spent most of his career with White & Case overseas in Indonesia, Turkey and Russia, where his practice was focused on the development of natural resources.
After attending Université Paul-Valéry, Montpellier, Mr. Verrier received a BA from Université de Montréal before going on to achieve his LLB from the University of Ottawa and his LLM from Harvard Law School.
Hugh was Editor-in-Chief of the Ottawa Law Review, and in 2014 was inducted into the Common Law Honour Society – the highest honour bestowed upon alumni by the Faculty of Law Common Law Section.
He is married to Celia Verrier, LLB 1981.
