Daphne Jarvis, LL.B. 1984, was named the winner of the Ontario Bar Association Susan Hilary Davidson Memorial Award for Excellence in Health Law at the OBA Health Law Section year-end dinner in June.
Currently with Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, Daphne earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from McMaster University in 1979 before obtaining a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Philosophy at McMaster University in 1981. She then went on to receive her LL.B. from the University of Ottawa in 1984.
A partner in the Toronto office, Daphne is a civil litigator specializing in health law, particularly representing hospitals and their employees in medical malpractice claims, inquests and disciplinary proceedings, and consent and capacity issues.
Daphne is heavily involved in the law community, and was Past-President of Medico-Legal Society of Toronto. She is currently a Member of Executive and Member of Council.
She was also Community Member on the Ethics Committee of the Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Centre, and is a current member of the Ontario Bar Association Health Law Section and of The Advocates’ Society.
