Fallon Benson and Angel Larkman are both 2L students in our JD program. They are also part of our Indigenous Law Learner Community and have both taken action and found ways to change the world, while still studying.
Congratulations to the organizers of the annual Souper Français which was held on January 8, 2021. It was a huge success with over 220 students, lawyers, judges and professors in attendance. The guest of honour was the Honourable Justice Andromache Karakatsanis of the Supreme Court of Canada who gave a beautiful speech.
On November 16, a United Nations Security Council’s simulation with Common Law students representing Council members took place as part of Dr. Saeid Mirzaei Yengejeh’s Law of International Organizations course. The mock Security Council considered ways of combating the COVID-19 pandemic and unanimously passed a resolution calling for coordinated action to address the multidimensional aspects of this catastrophe.
With the pandemic affecting hundreds of students looking for employment and learning opportunities this summer, the Hyman Soloway Chair in Business and Trade Law organized and funded eight (8) summer fellowships for students looking to pursue opportunities in the field with the special permission of the donor.
