During the 11th year of partnership with United Nations, Common Law students have recently completed the preparation of 5 additional studies for the Repertory of the Practice of the United Nations Organs.
A team of three Common Law JD candidates for 2022, Ayushi Dave, Ritesh Kotak, and Ryan Mosoff, has won the Harley Finkelstein Entrepreneurship Challenge! The competition, endowed by Harley Finkelstein, joint J.D. & MBA, ‘09 and President of Shopify, was designed to develop the entrepreneurial mindset that is critical to leadership, helping students to become better leaders, lawyers, and entrepreneurs.
The Faculty of Law Common Law Section is pleased to welcome Gladys Osien, JD '19, as Black Legal Mentor in Residence for 2021-22. She will be working with the Black Law Students’ Association to support their activities for the upcoming year.
We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Professor Signa Daum Shanks as an Associate Professor on July 1, 2021. Julie Ada, Hassan Ahmad and Brandon D. Stewart will also join our Faculty, as Replacement Professors for two-year terms.
Professor Richard Albert will spend the Fall 2021 term in residence at the Common Law Section as the inaugural Allan Rock Visiting Professor. Professor Albert will also serve as a Visiting Fellow with the uOttawa Public Law Centre.
A cast of 15 actor-singers were featured in the first-ever virtual Musical presented by FTX Productions. The “DIY” musical is a medley of songs from various musicals. Each individual member had to perform and film themselves from the safety of their own home. Dispersed all over Canada, working in different time zones, they were able to assemble for their audience an hour filled with joy, dance and singing.
