Faculty of Law, Common Law alumni Katie Black (J.D. 2009) and Pierre Richard (LL.B. 1970) were officially inducted into the Common Law Honour Society on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
Ms. Black and Mr. Richard were honoured in the presence of family, friends, and colleagues, including the Honourable Jody Wilson-Raybould, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, the Honourable Sheilah Martin, Justice, Supreme Court of Canada, the Honourable Paul Crampton, Chief Justice, Federal Court, the Honourable Heather Smith, Chief Justice, Superior Court of Ontario, as well as members of the judiciary, past Honour Society inductees, members of the legal community, alumni, and Faculty members.
The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin, former chief justice, Supreme Court of Canada, was also in attendance and gave a moving testimonial of Katie Black’s time as a clerk in her office.
