Common Law alumna Caitlin Tolley (J.D. 2017) has been selected as the recipient of the Public Policy Forum’s (PPF) Emerging Leader Award for 2018. Ms. Tolley, an Algonquin Anishinabe from Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation in Quebec, will be recognized for her strong advocacy work on behalf of Indigenous people and Indigenous issues.

Ms. Tolley, 27, was elected in 2012 as one of the youngest band councillors in the history of Kitigan-Zibi. She also served two terms as the representative of First Nations youth at the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec-Labrador and the Assembly of First Nations Youth Council. She has increasingly used her voice on the global stage to champion Indigenous causes and raise awareness regarding the high rates of violence against Indigenous women and girls in Canada.

Ms. Tolley will be recognized on April 12, 2018 at the PPF’s Annual Testimonial Dinner & Awards in Toronto.

Congratulations to Ms. Tolley on this tremendous recognition!
