Students from the Dispute Resolution Practicum course competed in the final round of the Richard Weiler Competition for Effective Lawyer-Client Relations and Team Work in Mediation on January 8, 2018.
We are pleased to congratulate Jamal Rehman and Sam Najem, first place winners — and Nicole Wozniak and Gurinder Gujral, second place winners in this year’s competition! The judges noted that all four finalists performed extremely well and, in particular, demonstrated excellent preparation and advocacy.
Rick Weiler, a mediator with Weiler ADR Inc., is one of Canada’s foremost mediators. He created the Weiler Prize for the University of Ottawa, Common Law Section, to promote excellence in lawyer-client advocacy in non-litigation settings. First place winners share a $1,000 prize and the second place winners share a $500 prize. Mr. Weiler also mediates the final round.
Congratulations to Jamal, Sam, Nicole, and Gurinder on their performances!
The Faculty would also like to thank Mr. Weiler for his continued support of this initiative.
