Track your application
The Faculty of Law reviews all applications carefully. Given the significant number of applications to be reviewed, this process takes a considerable amount of time. We make every effort to provide you with a response as quickly as possible and appreciate your patience. We ask that you consult your uoZone account frequently, as we communicate important information to applicants through this tool. This information includes status changes and checklist updates. Policies prevent our office from discussing your status over the phone. Using this tool will ensure that you have the most current information about your application.
Remember to apply for admission scholarships and bursaries!
The Faculty of Law, Common Law Section has many admissions bursaries that are offered exclusively to eligible prospective students. To be considered for these bursaries you must complete the Admission Bursary – English JD Program / Bourses d’admission – Programme J.D. Français application, which is available in the Online Scholarships and Bursaries tool. For further information on dates and deadlines, be sure to visit our Financial Aid and Bursaries website.
Pay your tuition deposit
As outlined in your offer of admission, in order to save your spot in the program, you are required to pay a $500 tuition deposit by June 1st, 2020. This will go toward your fall tuition, and can be paid in any way you would normally pay a tuition fee. Please consult the University's Methods of Payment page for a full list. Those who are admitted after June 1st must pay this deposit upon accepting their offer of admission.
Requesting to defer your offer of admission
The Common Law Section is able to grant a limited number of one-year deferrals. To request a deferral, admitted students should email the Admissions Committee at comlaw@uOttawa.ca no later than July 31, 2020. Unfortunately, we will be unable to consider requests placed after this date. Students seeking a deferral should clearly lay out the grounds for their request, providing supporting documentation if available.
Take a campus tour!
Unfortunately, because of COVID-19 restrictions, we have been forced to suspend campus tours until further notice. Once the public health situation permits, we will resume offering tours to applicants who would like to visit the Faculty of Law and meet with a current student ambassador.
