May was a proud month for the Common Law Section as we hosted two separate events to celebrate our alumni and honour our 2018 Common Law Honour Society inductees.
Surrounded by their family, friends, members of the legal community, and fellow alumni, Chief Justice Paul Crampton, LL.B. 1985, Justice Michelle O’Bonsawin, LL.B. 1998, and Ms. Audrey Ramsay, LL.B. 1993 were all named to the Honour Society.
In 1992, Jim Gatley, LLB 1994, decided to gather some of his classmates together and created a hockey league to help manage the stresses that can come with attending law school. 25 years later, the tradition continues and their kids have been welcomed onto the ice with them.

The Honourable Emile Rosario Millette, LLB 1961, has passed away at the age of 83. After attending Gravelbourg College in Saskatchewan at the young age of 11, Justice Millette graduated from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law school in 1961, and was called to the bar in April 1963.
Katie Black, LLB 2009, was among the forty Ottawans recognized for their business achievements in the 2019 Forty under 40 awards. The award is a joint initiative of the Ottawa Board of Trade and the Ottawa Business Journal, which recognizes accomplished and rising business leaders under the age of 40 in the National Capital Region.
The Public Law and Legislative Services Sector (PLLSS) has announced that Diane Labelle, LLM 2003, has been named the Director General and Senior General Counsel for the Constitutional, Administrative and International Law Section (CAILS) effective May 13, 2019.
