Professors Jane Bailey and Valerie Steeves are pleased to announce that the website for The eGirls Projecthas gone live at www.egirlsproject.ca. Professors Bailey and Steeves are the co-principal investigators on The eGirls Project, a 3-year research project funded under SSHRC's Partnership Development Grant Programme.
During the week of November 19-23, 2012, part-time Professor Vickie Iacobellis and University of Ottawa students Debjani Poddar and Ahrum Lee were invited to the International Criminal Court (ICC) Assembly of States Parties in the Hague as part of the ICC Legal Tools Project.
Second-year Common Law student Nathalie Gajewski recently related her experience with the Canadian Forces for TVO’s “The Inside Agenda Blog” in an article entitled “New Perspectives: Natalie Gajewski, Not Your Typical Veteran.”
The Honourable Charles Hackland (’75), the regional senior Ontario Superior Court Justice in Ottawa, was profiled in the November 26, 2012 edition of the Ottawa Citizen in an article entitled “Ottawa judge makes his mark on big cases.”
The Common Law Section hosted the Fifth Catherine Helen MacLean Memorial Lecture on November 20, 2012, where guest speaker Peter Barnacle delivered a talk entitled “Workplace Harassment in Employment Law: Approaches and Problems in Developing Effective Remedies in a Matrix of Common Law and Legislative Responses.”
On November 13 and 14, Professor Tony VanDuzer gave lectures by Skype to a classroom of Pakistani government officials in Islamabad on international investment law. The program was co-taught by a senior Pakistani government official, Rana Shehzad Ahmad Khan.
