The Faculty of Law is saddened to announce the passing of H. Albert Hubbard, former Professor and Dean at the Faculty. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 8, 2017.
Professor Hubbard joined the Faculty in 1959, and became Dean in 1973. The Faculty underwent a period of “major expansion and growth” during his deanship, including the creation of the French Common Law Program, the Human Rights Research and Education Center, and the joint LL.B. / M.B.A. Program, as well as the expansions of the Graduate Studies Program, the Student Legal Aid Program, and the Ottawa Law Review.
Professor Hubbard served as Dean from 1973-1981, and again from 1984-87. He was named Emeritus Professor following his retirement from the Faculty.
Professor Hubbard’s obituary is available on the Ottawa Citizen website. The Faculty extends its sincere condolences to Professor Hubbard’s family. His funeral will be held on Thursday, June 15 at noon at the Resurrection of Our Lord Church, 1940 Saunderson Drive, Ottawa.
